Meet Fin’s Friend, Henry!

In April, Splash Lagoon launched Fin’s Friends, an ongoing partnership with Shriners Hospitals for Children – Erie! Henry and his family were presented with a Splash Lagoon overnight experience, which includes an overnight stay at a hotel connected to the waterpark, four 2-day swimming passes and complementary breakfast.

“As a toddler, Henry was diagnosed with achondroplasia, the most common type of short-limbed dwarfism. Shortly after diagnosis his family was referred to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Erie. Henry needed specialty care and after visiting with the staff at the medical center, the family was confident that he would not only receive the highest quality care, but they would also receive guidance on how to help Henry reach his fullest potential. He has been a patient at the Erie Shriners Medical Center for ten years now and has had two surgical procedures, physical therapy, and occupational therapy and has worn braces to help him be as independent as possible. The strong support that he receives from his family helps him to be independent as well. His brother and sister often accompany him to his therapy appointments and his parents work along with the staff to make sure he follows through with the instructions given to him by his health care providers. Henry’s family enjoys spending time together and they are grateful for the opportunity to have a fun, family weekend at Splash Lagoon!”
