Diving Deep into the Wild Waters Wave Pool
A mermaid-themed event for Splash Lagoon guests to enjoy
What’s one thing you don’t expect to see in the Wild Waters Indoor Wave Pool? A mermaid! On July 20, 2019, Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort hosted Mermaid Adventures. The event highlighted activities and crafts for guests, such as a coloring contest, cookie decorating and underwater crafts, and provided the opportunity to meet and swim with mermaids!
Coloring Contest. Creativity splashed on to the page when guests had the chance to participate in our coloring contest! Each participant chose one of the four coloring pages available to design and color it the way they wanted. Using a variety of colors and patterns, coloring pages were brought to life. Completed designs were signed by our participating coloring artists and submitted to the front desk for a chance at a grand prize! Out of the 20 individuals who entered, our lucky winner was Abby’s mermaid design!
Cookie Decorating. As the aroma of sweet sugar cookies filled the air near the Wild Waters Wave Pool, guests lined up to participate in the cookie decorating activity. Each participant selected a scrumptious cookie and picked out a cup of red or blue frosting to use to decorate. It was the perfect and sweet activity, no matter your age!
Underwater Crafts. With sparked creativity and the excitement of meeting our mermaid friends growing, it was time to get crafty! Guests could choose between two crafts: mermaid ornaments or underwater sea creature hats. The favorite, a mermaid ornament, gave the participants creative freedom to choose exactly how they wanted to design their ornament. There were a variety of shell, reef and star stickers available. Some guests, however, opted to create an underwater sea creature hat to wear throughout the park for the day. Each craft provided guests a break from the water and to create a memory that they will treasure for years to come!
Meet and Greet. It was time for mystical mermaid magic when at t 3 o’clock, the guests of honor arrived at Splash Lagoon. Two tropical mermaids sailed into Splash with their very own pirate helper and were placed in the Wild Waters Wave Pool. The mermaids met and took photos with guests for an hour near the waterfall before taking a quick break to nap and eat some kale chips.
Once the mermaids returned, they were placed right into the action! One mermaid was beached in the shallow end of the wave pool, while the other went deep into the water to swim with guests. For over an hour, guests had the chance to swim, ask questions and have fun with the mermaids!
Next Up? Splash Lagoon’s next event is Red, White & Splash on Saturday, August 31, 2019. The day will feature activities, such as cookie decorating and patriotic crafts.
